Looking for electric cars for sale in Brisbane? In 2026, you have plenty of options. In February the new all-electric Mazda 6e became available for pre-order in Australia, joining other electric vehicles such as the Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2 and BYD Seal in a growing market. The 6e is a collaboration with Changan Automotive that puts a fresh and literally electrifying new spin on the classic Mazda 6 model. With exhilarating power, the latest in driving technology and signature KODO design, the Mazda 6e continues Mazda’s longstanding tradition of providing exceptional driving experiences.

Introduced in 2017, the Tesla Model 3 is the company’s battery electric powered mid-size sedan. The world’s top-selling electric car from 2018 to 2020, it was refreshed and redesigned in 2023 with the ‘Project Highland’ redevelopment. The 2026 Tesla Model 3 is built to last up to 750 kilometres on a single charge and includes a whisper-quiet cabin and remote access that lets you control everything from a Tesla app.

The 6e and the Tesla 3 are both premium electric vehicles that are among the best of their kind, but how do they compare to each other?

Aspley Mazda has been providing quality new and used cars to the people of Brisbane’s northside for over 50 years. With an award-winning customer service team, we’re professionals at matching our customers with the right kind of vehicle. Here’s the Aspley Mazda guide to how the Mazda 6e compares to the Tesla Model 3.

Pricing

The Mazda 6e is known for being competitively priced, especially for an electric vehicle. While the Tesla Model 3 starts from $54,900 in Australia, the 6e is $49,990. The 6e is currently one of the most affordable electric vehicles in Australia, offering exceptional value for money for very high quality.

Dimensions

Size isn’t everything, but dimensions affect the manoeuvrability of your car and where you can safely drive and park it. The Tesla Model 3 is more compact than the Mazda model, with a length of 4720mm and width of 1850mm. The Mazda is 4921mm and 1890mm wide as well as taller (1485mm compared to the 1440mm height of the Tesla Model 3).

Features

As you might expect, both the Mazda 6e and the Tesla Model 3 come with impressive sets of standard features.

The Mazda 6e’s specs and perks include 19-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable Maztex seats and a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade.

The Tesla Model 3 packs 360-degree acoustic glass that keeps the cabin quiet, an all-glass roof with UV protection and elegant remote access technology.

The Mazda 6e and the Model 3 share some great features like synthetic leather seating and wireless phone charging. Yet the Mazda 6e has the larger sound system with 14 Sony speakers and (unlike the Model 3) the benefits of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety

Both the Mazda 6e and the Tesla Model 3 come equipped with top-of-the-line safety features. Some standard features across both models include lane departure warning, auto emergency braking and lane keep assist, making them both worthy investments if you want to keep your family safe on the road.

Some additional safety features of the Mazda 6e include an extra airbag (nine compared to the eight on the Tesla), front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. The Tesla Model 3 has a five-star ANCAP safety rating. While the 2026 Mazda 6e is pending an ANCAP safety rating, ANCAP’s European equivalent NCAP rated it five stars in 2025.

Efficiency

Efficiency is a strong point for both the Tesla Model 3 and the Mazda 6e. Both have fast charging speeds. While the Tesla 3 has a slight advantage in power (208kW compared to the Mazda 6e’s 190kW), the 6e maintains the lead in driving range (560km to the Tesla’s 520km).
