A breakdown of the Mazda MX-30 Electric.

The Mazda MX-30 Electric is one of our more recent models as it was very first unveiled back in 2019 as part of the company’s efforts to produce greener vehicles for a more sustainable future. Featuring both an all electric and a hybrid model, today we’re going to focus on the fully electric version. With that said however, being variations on the same model, there are a few similarities in terms of features. Aside from a 5 star safety rating from Euro NCAP and the many happy drivers all over the world, we haven’t forgotten about all the mod cons and an offering that caters to convenience and comfort, along with a bit of unique flair, which resulted in a top 10 placing in Japan’s 2020 to 2021 car of the year awards.

What are some of the key features?

This car truly is different across all versions and in their own ways. Here are a few of the best features worth considering when choosing a new car.

Mazda Connect – With a 7 to 8.8 inch display for your 360 degree view (traffic and parking) monitor, live traffic updates, weather summaries to help you find your way efficiently, information on places of interest you might want to visit and all of the other features of our Mazda Toolbox, this is an essential “beating heart” part of the MX-30. Note: May require subscription.

An LCD Multi-Information Display – All of your expected key information (speed, fuel, RPM and much more) in crystal clear full colour.

Remote Power Tailgate – A remote operated feature allowing easy access to your rear cargo space (boot) for your convenience.

Recycled interior fabrics – We are going for sustainability all round with the Mazda MX-30. We’ve used fibres made from recycled plastic bottles at various points in the vehicle as part of the sustainable design.

One of a kind faux leather seats – No organic solvents were used in the making of the car’s seats which lowers the environmental impact of production considerably.

Cork features in the centre console – This cork was harvested from the bark of a tree over 200 years, increasing sustainability while offering a stylish and unique decor that you’ll love.

Mazda’s electric drivetrain – This drivetrain is an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery. Power is sent to the front wheels through a single speed reduction gear which basically feels like there’s no gearbox at all.

So, how does the vehicle perform?

You will notice the torque immediately. This car is nimble, comfortable, quiet and energy efficient at around 16.7kWh/100km in energy consumption.

You’ll get from 0-100 in 9.7 seconds, however, with that said, comfort and ease of driving is our goal here. You won’t feel the jumpy acceleration that a lot of new electric cars force you to acclimatise to (sometimes in ways that can feel jarring and dangerous). While it does perform as you’d expect an electric vehicle to, this is a car designed to get you around precisely, safely and sustainably. Torque steer and axle tramping (an issue that can sometimes arise with electric vehicles and affect your control and safety) are not something you’ll need to worry about here.

The MX-30 Electric boasts our first ever e-Skyactiv powertrain, making this the first ever fully electric powered Mazda. With an AC synchronous electric motor that allows for 160km travel on a single charge, you’ll be able to shoot around town with ease in silence and comfort.

Add to this the Smart Brake Support (SBS) with Pedestrian Recognition monitors, where your car can assess in real time how likely a collision is when traveling between 4-80km/h, braking automatically where needed and you have not only performance, but peace of mind.

How much does it cost?

Being a newer model, it’s harder to come across a used MX-30 Electric, but for a new car in Brisbane, you can expect to spend around $65,000, a small price to pay for comfort, precision, safety, power and Mazda’s generous warranty conditions. Not only that, but you’ll be driving around in one of the more unique vehicles on the road and standing out from your average electric vehicle fare.

So if you’re looking to buy a car in Brisbane whether you’re a busy professional zooming around town, a family member helping everyone to get around the city, a young social butterfly looking to get out with friends, or just someone who likes to get to know their city and beyond, all while feeling better about the sustainability and environmental impact of your activities, come in to Mazda Aspley today and talk to one of our very knowledgeable and experienced staff to have all of your questions answered, take this great car for a test drive and get started on your path to a sustainable driving experience today!
